Obituary

It is with deep sadness, the Wilson family announces the passing of their beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, after a courageous struggle with illness, Agnes Rose Wilson, on September 11th, 2019 at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, in her 86th year. Agnes was born on January 26th, 1934 in Dereham Township, Ontario to the late Phil Kirwin and Mary (Johnson). Agnes will be dearly missed by her loving and much loved husband Doug of 63 wonderful years, and by her children: Annette (Keith), of Georgetown and his sons: Jeff (Amanda), and Greg (Kirsten); Steve (Leslie), of Woodstock and their children: Lynette (Chad), and Justin (Hillary); Joanne (Mike), of Georgetown and their daughter Victoria; and Tim (Melissa), of London and their children: Tim, Connor and Madison. Much loved great grandmother to Axel, Weston and Edison. Agnes came from a large family, with 9 siblings: Anna Marie Hayes (late Jack), late Patrick (late Sheila), late Bill, Joan (Jack), late Martin (Evelyn), Mike (Marlene), Bob (Henrietta), Pauline (Dr. S.M Ahmad), and Paul, dear sister in law to Marg Wilson (late Bill).

Agnes was a dedicated long-time member of the St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Tillsonburg and a proud member of the Catholic Women’s League (for over 70 years). For many years Agnes was a Supervisor and Operator with Bell Canada; she has remained active with the Telecom Pioneers of Canada group. Agnes also enjoyed years of boating and precious family time at the cottage. Agnes will be lovingly remembered for baking her famous cookies, which earned her the affectionate title “Grandma Cookie.”

Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Friday, September 13th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. C.W.L Prayers will take place in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 1:45 p.m. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to Celebrate Agnes’ Life will take place on Saturday, September 14th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Tillsonburg by Rev. Fr. John Pirt. Interment to follow in the Tillsonburg Cemetery, 191-193 Simcoe Street. Memorial donations to the “Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Foundation” or to the “St. Mary’s R.C.
