Obituary for Aline Colpaert (Lammens)

Colpaert, Aline (Lammens) (July 14, 1927 – March 16, 2022) –

It is with sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our much-loved mother, grandmother, sister-in-law and friend, Aline (nee Lammens) Colpaert, of Strathroy, on March 16, 2022, at the age of 94. Aline was born on July 14th, 1927, in Schellebelle, East Flanders, Belgium, daughter to the late Celestine and late Josef Lammens. Aline emigrated to Canada with her family on June 30, 1938, to Tillsonburg, settling in the Vienna district almost all her life. She travelled on the boat with her aunt Germaine, uncle Julius, and cousin Germaine Rombout (Celestine’s sister). Aline was predeceased by her much loved husband of almost 70 years, Marcel Colpaert (September 6, 2016). Together they farmed tobacco, were members of the former St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Port Burwell, and were members of the Royal Canadian Legion BR #524. Aline was a proud 60 plus year member with the St. Joseph’s Church C.W.L. Dear mother of Mark Colpaert (Lorraine Cattrysse) and proud grandmother of Darren, Brent, and Craig. Also survived by her sister-in-law Madeleine Lammens, Cousin Dorothy Rombout, nieces, nephews, and several cousins in Belgium. Predeceased by two brothers Albert (1933), Samuel (1992), Mary (Lammens) (2010), brother-in-law Firman Cattrysse (2011). Also predeceased by her stepsister Alida Vanhooren (Daniel), stepbrother Roger Cattroir (Gloria), and her cousin Germaine Rombout.

In Celebration of Aline’s Life and Faith, a public Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 51 Venison St. W., Tillsonburg, By Rev. Fr. Thomas Kuriacko. Interment will follow in Tillsonburg Cemetery. All who knew Aline are invited to attend a public visitation, held on Sunday, March 20th, 2022, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. All C.W.L. members are invited to attend C.W.L. Prayers on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
