Obituary for Carol (Long) Van Haverbeke

VAN HAVERBEKE, Carol Edith (nee Long) (March 9, 1943 – February 28, 2023)

The Van Haverbeke family sadly announces the peaceful passing of a wonderful mom, grandma, aunt, sister, sister-in-law, and friend to many, Carol Edith (Long) Van Haverbeke, surrounded by the love of her family, on February 28th, 2023, at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Woodstock, in her 80th year. Formerly a resident of RR4 Langton (Frogmore) and 70 Queen Street, Tillsonburg, Carol is predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years, Wilmert G. Van Haverbeke (Aug. 5th, 2008). Loved mom of Brian (Tracie), of Mount Brydges; Keith (Tania), of RR5 Langton; and Dave, of Normandale. Always loved grandma of Nicole, Kirk; Alex, Kristen; Levi (Cait) and their children Brynleigh and Landen; Kate (Jeremy); Danica, Julian. Survived by a much-loved sister Peggy Hicks, of Straffordville (late Ken Hicks). Also survived by three sisters-in-law Mary Willaert, Edna DeMeyer, and Margaret Long. Predeceased by her parents Rev. Basil Long and Elsie (Williams) Long. Also predeceased by two brothers Leroy Long and Gerald Long (late Judy). Carol was a former dedicated employee at both the Guardian Glass and Hoover’s, Tillsonburg. Carol worked seasonally in tobacco and in her spare time she enjoyed family camping trips, music jams at the Country Jamboree (at Roger Long’s). She also enjoyed playing cards, bingo and movie nights with friends and family.

Friends, neighbours, and relatives are welcomed to offer support to Carol’s family by attending public visitation, which will be held on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, March 3rd, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (service time) in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. A funeral service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held on Friday, March 3rd, at 1:00 p.m., by Pastor Ted Smith, of Cultus United Church in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Home Chapel, Tillsonburg. Interment follows in the Tillsonburg Cemetery.
