Obituary for Chang Son

Passed away, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on January 7th, 2021, Chang Son, a resident of Tillsonburg and formerly of St. Thomas and Hamilton, in his 85th year. Chang Son was born in Vietnam, to the late Khiem (Thi) Tran and Than Son. In his younger years, he was employed as a mechanic in the Toronto area, until retiring in 2000. For 16 years, Chang was a devoted Monk between the Hamilton and London Buddhist Temples. Caring father to Nghia Hoang Son, of Calgary, AB; Nhung Hoang Son, of Calgary, AB; Long Hoang Son, of Calgary, AB; Hai Hoang Son, of Edmonton, AB, Hoa Hoang Son, of Vancouver, BC; My (Van) Hoang Son, of Tillsonburg, ON. Survived by 15 grandchildren and by nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his wife, Tho Thi Son (2018) and by his sisters Khua Thi Son and Nhi Thi Son.

Due to COVID-19-attendance restrictions, the Funeral Service will be by invitation only at this time and will be officiated by Venerable Thach Truong Dhammo and Sopheap Chan, on Monday, January 11th, 2021 in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, Tillsonburg at 10:00 a.m. All are required to wear face coverings and always uphold social-distance rules both outside/inside the funeral home. Private Visitation (by invitation) will be held on Saturday, January 9th and 10th, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. All are invited to attend virtually via the below livestream link:

Cremation follows on Monday afternoon, with later inurnment in the London Buddhist Temple. The Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc., Tillsonburg (519-842-4238) has been entrusted with all arrangements, with confidence.
