Obituary for Don Gordon Chalk
CHALK, Donald Gordon (May 27, 1932 – February 7, 2023)
Donald ‘Don’ Gordon Chalk, passed away, peacefully, on February 7th, 2023, at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, at the age of 90. Many will remember Don as a proud community benefactor, as a mentor and for his enjoyment of helping friends, neighbours and strangers too. Don was the former proprietor of “Oxford Gulf”, “Battery Supply”, all while operating tow trucks and snow plows. Don worked 7 days a week, but he often said that he never worked a day in his life. Don is survived by his daughter Kim Chalk, of London. Lovingly remembered grandfather of Samantha Kraushaar, of London and her sons Arlo and Leo; MacKenzie Kraushaar, of Langton. Also survived by three dear friends: John Puhr, Mick Kraushaar, and Dan Bourrie. Don was predeceased by his much-loved wife, Edna Ruth (Healy) Chalk (March 9, 2009), by three children: Craig Gordon Chalk (1984), Karen Chalk (1995), Kevin Sidney Chalk (2015), by his siblings: Alan Chalk (2018), Marion Bernice Chalk (1954), and by his parents: Wilfred and Florence (Law) Chalk.
Friends, neighbours, and relatives are invited to attend public visitation, held on Friday, February 10th, 2023, between 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, February 11th, between 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (service time) in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc. Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. A funeral service to honour Don will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, by Pastor Paul Schallhorn, of Peace Lutheran Church. Interment follows in the Chalk Family Plot of Tillsonburg Cemetery.
