Obituary for Donald Hunter "Don" Crandall

CRANDALL, Donald Hunter (November 9, 1929 – September 4, 2022)

Donald Hunter Crandall (Don) died on the fourth of September, 2022, in his 93rd year at Arbor Trace Memory Care Centre, London, Ontario.

Don was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Joan (nee Grant) Crandall. The family is forever grateful that Dad could spend his last years caring for his Joanie, first at their home and then for the last five years at the Alzheimer's facility, Arbor Trace.

Don was born and raised in Tillsonburg, Ontario, where he and Joan remained and raised their family. After beginning his working life with his father at the Beaver Foundry in Tillsonburg, he spent many years with the Prudential Insurance Company. He finished his career with Oxford Social Services. During his downtime, Don was an involved hockey Dad, golfer and cyclist for many years. He loved being on the water, fishing, boating and spending many hours at Pottahawk Point and the cabin with Joan, his kids, grandkids and friends.

Don leaves behind his three children, Joanne Sergeant (late Jim), Yvonne (Bonnie) Shieck (Andy), Grant Crandall (Tracy); his six grandchildren Michael, Shevaughn, Lindsay, Justin, Taylor & Gavin; his four great-grandchildren, Sarah, Gavin, Gibson, Selena & Luxon. Don is also survived by seven nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Roy and Olive Crandall, his brother Jack (late Ruth) and sister Margaret (Margie) Mabee (late Tom).

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc., 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg (519) 842-4238, and as were Don's wishes, cremation has taken place, and the family will have a private celebration of life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don's name to a favourite charity or the “Alzheimer Society” via Don’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com where friends or relatives may leave a letter of condolence, favourite memories, or upload a photo in memory.
