Obituary for Dorothy Pearl Lipsit (Moffatt)

Passed away, peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on Thursday, September 17th, 2020 at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, Dorothy Pearl (Moffatt) Lipsit, of Tillsonburg, in her 82nd year. Born in Cultus, to the late Wm. and Nellie Moffatt. Dorothy was a special education teacher at several London District Catholic Schools (St Jude’s, Ingersoll, St. Josephs, Thamesford, Sacred Heart, Langton). Later she was employed with RBC as a Mortgage Specialist, retiring in 2007. Always a proud member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and an active member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Women’s League. Dorothy’s legacy is her wonderful, caring children and grandchildren: Harry Lipsit (Bobbi Campbell), of Tillsonburg; Rebecca (Chris Sanders), of Tillsonburg and their children Ava Sanders and Eli Sanders.

In keeping with Dorothy’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and relatives are invited to offer support and caring by sending flowers, posting photos, notes of tribute, favourite memories and hugs from home on Dorothy’s tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com. Due to COVID safety restrictions, public visitation will be LIMITED to ONLY guests that sign up for specific time to attend. Time slots will be available by visiting Dorothy’s tribute page or by calling (519-842-4238) between 9am and 4pm. Each person attending must be listed as a guest. Guests must bring and wear face masks and maintain social distancing rules. Guests are asked not to attend if they are ill, if they have been around someone else who is ill or have travelled. Guests are encouraged to attend only when their time slot begins. If guests arrive too early, they are asked to wait in their vehicle. If guests arrive too late, they may be unable to enter. Public visitation will take place on Monday, September 21, 2020 in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg, with four time slots available: 2:00 to 3:00 pm, 3:15 to 4:00 pm, 6:00 to 6:45 pm and 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Parish Prayers will take place at 7:00 pm by Deacon Brian Hanley. Private Funeral Mass to Celebrate Dorothy’s Life and Faith will take place on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tillsonburg by Rev. Fr. Ben Huyge. Inurnment follows in Moffatt family plot in the Cultus Cemetery by Deacon Jack Grim. Memorial donations to “St. Mary’s Church – Building Fund” or to the “Canadian Wildlife Federation” or to the “Ontario SPCA” in memory of Dorothy can be made on the www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com website or by cheque through the Maurice J.
