Obituary for Dorothy Marie "Dot" Sanders
Passed away, peacefully after a long and well lived life, on October 29th, 2019 at Caressant Care in Courtland, Dorothy ‘Dot’ Marie Sanders (Deroo), a long-time resident of Langton, in her 92nd year. Daughter of the late Camiel and Zulma (Lambert) Deroo. Survived by her husband and best friend of 72 years Camiel (Cam). Loved mother and mother-in-law of Robert (Doreen) Sanders, Pat (Bob) Hodges and Nancy Nowell. Proud grandmother of Bobbi Jo (Gary) Miller, David (Jodi) Hodges, Jennifer (Dorval) Sousa and Lisa Nowell. Special great Mama of Emerson and Clair Hodges and Taylor Sousa. Predeceased by her brothers Andrew Deroo (2013), Maurice Deroo (2011) and sister Simone Handsaeme (2015) and brother-in-law George Sanders (2018). Survived by her sister-in-law Gerarda Deroo and brother-in-law Jerry (and wife Sheila) Sanders. Dorothy was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Langton and a member of the Langton Catholic Women’s League for over 60 years. Born and raised on the family farm, Dorothy was proud to have lived there for over 80 years. She will be remembered for her love of playing cards and fondness of going to the casino.
Friends, former Langton area neighbours and relatives are invited by Cam and the Sanders family to share in a time of remembrance on Friday, November 1st, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 40 Queen Street, Langton. C.W.L. Prayers will be held at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to Celebrate Dorothy’s Life will be held on November 2nd. 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred R.C. Church, 24 Albert St., Langton, by Rev. Fr. John Pirt. Interment to follow in the Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery. Memorial donations to the “Caressant Care Courtland – Residents Council” would be gratefully acknowledged by the family and may be made through the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Service Inc., Langton 519-842-4238, which has been entrusted with all funeral arrangements.
