Obituary for Douglas Earle "Doug" Scott

Passed away, peacefully, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, on June 4th, 2020, Douglas (Doug) Earle Scott, a resident of Tillsonburg and formerly a longtime resident of Springford, at the age of 90. Born on September 8th, 1929 in Bayham Township, to the late Harry Scott (1980) and late former Minnie Wollstein (1978).

For many years, Doug was a proud member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Peace Lutheran Church, Tillsonburg. Prior to losing his vision, he was a well-known Canada Post mail carrier, farmer and enjoyed taking part in the Canada Day parades in Springfield and Otterville with his horse and buggy, while wearing his cowboy attire. He loved to dance, especially to his favourite country and western music. Doug can be described as very social, caring, kind and a selfless man that would give you the shirt off of his back; his presence will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Doug is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Jane (Smith) Scott (2014), by his three sons Paul (2016), Jonathan (2019), David (1954) and by two brothers Don (2006) and Joe (2016). Doug will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren; Eric (Carla), Lindsay (Jeff), Ryan, Maggie (Craig) and his great-grandchildren; Astin, Lexi, Ava, Alissa, Cameron, Clara, Lainey and Addie. Doug is survived by his daughters-in-law Barb and Wanda, brothers Roger (late Lois), Bryce, Ross (June), sister-in-law Corinne, his dear friend Barbara Curtis, and many beloved and appreciated friends and neighbors.

In light of the recent COVID-19 social distancing regulations, a Private Graveside Service to Celebrate Douglas’ well lived life will take place in Delmer Cemetery by Pastor Paul Schallhorn, of Peace Lutheran Church, Tillsonburg.
