Obituary for E. Mary Bartlett

It is with sadness, we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Eva ‘Mary’ Maud Helsdon, on Sunday November 22, 2020 at Woodstock General Hospital, Woodstock, at the age of 89. Mary was born in Tillsonburg to the late Samuel Helsdon and late Phyllis (Newman) Helsdon. Mary attended the Springfield Baptist Church. During her working years, she most recently worked for the Canada Post in Eastern Canada. Predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Ivan Keith Bartlett (August 24, 2005). Survived by her much loved and caring children: Cheryl (Barry) Hosner, of Tillsonburg; Daniel (Anne) Bartlett, of P.E.I., Kathy (David Rachar), of Tillsonburg. Always a devoted grandmother to Angela Muir, Joshua (Maria) Bartlett, Amanda (Matt Spidel), Nicholas Bartlett, David (Alexandra) Rachar, Matthew (Yvonne) Rachar, John (Jenna) Rachar. Special great-grandmother to Jacob Muir, Kalen Muir, Brody Muir, Benjamin Spidel, Adelyn Spidel, Gwen Spidel, and Locksley Rachar. Survived by her sister Dorothy Fuller (late Art Fuller Sr.) and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by a much-loved grandson James (2003), by her brother Jack (late Mary Ellen) Helsdon, by her sister Margaret (George Jenkins) (1999), her late nephews: Lawrence Shelton (Larry) Fuller (1978), George Jenkins Jr. (2020).

Friends and relatives are invited to offer their support and care by sending flowers, posting photos, sharing favourite memories, and hugs from home on Mary’s tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com. Due to COVID-19-related restrictions, public visitation will be limited to only guests that sign up for specific time to attend. Each person attending must be listed as a guest. Guests must bring and wear face masks and maintain social distancing rules. Guests are asked not to attend if they are ill, if they have been around someone else who is ill or have travelled. Guests are encouraged to attend only when their time slot begins. If guests arrive too early, they are asked to wait in their vehicle. If guests arrive too late, they may be unable to enter. Public visitation will take place on Friday, November 27th, 2020 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., 7:15 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday November 28th from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Service Inc. Chapel, 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg. Time slots are available by RSVP’ing on Mary’s tribute page or by calling (519-842-4238) between 9am and 4pm. A Private Funeral Service to Honour and Remember Mary will take place on Saturday, November 28th at 2:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, Tillsonburg by Rev. John Twinem, of Springfield Baptist Church. For those unable to attend, a livestream will be available. A link will be posted to Mary’s tribute page (under photos and videos) by 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Interment follows in the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Memorial donations to the “Springfield Baptist Church,” or the “Gideon’s” or to “Teen Challenge Canada,” would be gratefully acknowledged and can be made through the Maurice J.
