Obituary for Ellen Isabella Springer (Maize)
It is with heavy hearts, we the Springer family wish to announce the passing of our special mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, and friend, Ellen Isabella (Maize) Springer, a resident of Tillsonburg on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021 in her 97th year. Ellen was born in Ashfield Township, Huron County, Ontario, the daughter of the late Harvey Maize and the late Ida (Glazier) Maize.
Ellen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Dr. Glenn Springer (January 4th, 2014). Ellen is survived by her children, Dr. Linda Hudson (Sudbury) and her children, Michael, David, and Jeffrey; Dr. Dale Springer (Kelly) (Tillsonburg) and their children Erik and Kristin (Chris); Brian Springer (Barb) (Oshawa) and their children, Steven (Jessica), Michelle and Lee (Laura). Ellen is survived by three sisters- in-law, Joan Maize (Lucknow, ON), Bernice Springer (Moose Jaw, SK), and Elta Springer (Ottawa, ON).
Ellen will be remembered as a kind, devoted and dedicated mother whose main focus was her family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed travelling. Ellen was a member of St. Paul’s United Church and an active member of the UCW in former years. Glenn and Ellen will be remembered for their generous donation to the Lake Lisgar Renaissance Project.
A private family visitation has taken place. Interment will take place at the Tillsonburg Cemetery at a later date followed by her Celebration of Life.
