Obituary for Edna Godlieve (Lisabeth) Madou

MADOU, Edna Godlieve (nee Lisabeth) (September 1st, 1928 - December 4th, 2021) -

It is with deep sadness, George Madou and his family wish to announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, and friend, Edna Godlieve (nee Lisabeth) Madou, on Saturday, December 4th, 2021, at Caressant Care, Courtland, in her 94th year. Born in Zwevezele, W.F. Belgium, to the late August Lisabeth and the late Angela (nee Defauw) Lisabeth. For many years, Edna farmed tobacco on Hazen Road, in Walsingham alongside her husband George Madou, of Langton. Edna was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Langton and was a past member of the Long Point Lioness, Port Rowan. Survived by her loving and much-loved husband of 73 years, George R. Madou, of Langton. Always a loving mother to her daughter Judy Ruckle (late Ron, Aug. 3, 2013), of Langton. Caring grandmother to Christa (Kevin Pickersgill), of Baden, and their sons Ethan & Alex; Ryan Ruckle (Carrie), of Tillsonburg, and their children Taylor & Janelle. Also survived by her sister-in-law Laurette Lisabeth, of Fairground. Predeceased by her brothers Roger Lisabeth and Micheal Lisabeth.

In keeping with Edna’s expressed wishes, a Traditional Funeral Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 11th, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes – Burial and Cremation Services Inc. Chapel, 40 Queen Street, Langton. Burial follows in the Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery, Langton. Edna’s friends, neighbours and relatives are welcomed to attend public visitation, on Saturday, December 11th, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (service time) in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, Langton. Please note, all visitation and funeral attendees must RSVP for an available timeslot by clicking the blue ‘RSVP button’ on Edna’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com. There are government-imposed capacity restrictions in place. All attendees must wear a mask and maintain social distancing regulations. At Edna’s online tribute page, all are invited to share fond memories, favourite photos, or send flowers, all of which would be gratefully acknowledged by the Madou family. Memorial donations will be accepted for “Sacred Heart R.C. Church- Building Fund” through the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes, Langton (519-842-4238), which has been entrusted with all funeral arrangements, with confidence.
