Obituary for Estella Maria Vereecke

Passed away, peacefully, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, Estella Maria Vereecke of RR1 Courtland in her 88th year. Born in Lauwe, W.F., Belgium daughter of the late Victor and Julia Windels. Estella came to Canada in 1952 by herself to follow and marry the love of her life Roger. Roger and Estella had a wonderful marriage lasting 68 years. They worked hard together and farmed on the Vereecke Family Farm in the Courtland area. Estella was a loving mother to Rose-Mary Debackere (Kenrick Badree) and proud and loving Meme of Nicole Debackere (Trevor Poshtar), all of Courtland. Also survived by several nieces and nephews in Belgium. Predeceased by son-in-law Johny Debackere (2017); three brothers and one sister Noel Windels, Marcel Windels, Monicque Parmentier, and Roger Windels, all in Belgium. Estella loved animals very much and even raised a flock of peacocks that she cared for with great loving care and concern. Estella will be remembered as a terrific cook, who always made (delicious) family meals making sure that everyone was fed. She was known by neighbours and friends to always have coffee on and great snacks ready. The Vereecke family would like to offer sincere thanks for the excellent care have given by the Care Partners, PSWs and nurses. Also thanks to Dr. Barry Roth and those at TDMH for keeping her comfortable in her final hours.
