Obituary for George William Scott

SCOTT, George William (May 18, 1928 – October 29, 2021) –

The Scott family wishes to announce the passing of their beloved father and grandfather, George William Scott, on October 29th, 2021, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, with loving family by his side, in his 94th year. George was born on the family farm on May 18th, 1928, in North Bayham Township to Mary Evelyne (Culp) and George Alexander Scott where he lived his entire life. It was there he established many lifelong relationships with friends and neighbours in the farming community.

George attended North Bayham United Church until it's closure in 1968, he then attended First Baptist Church in Tillsonburg. George was predeceased by his loving wife Phyllis of 69 years in 2020 and by his daughter Janice in 2000 (survived by Raymond Schram). Survived by his much-loved children: Gregory Scott (Laurie) and their children: Jason and Lisa (Nathan); Denise Light (Bill) and their children: Eric Brown, Scott Brown, Taylor Light and Christie Light. Grandchildren Alyx Pitter and Cedra Pitter. Proud great-grandfather of: Joshua, Matthew, Logan, Westley, Isabella, Joceyln, Cynthia, Kyla, Nickie, Nevaeh, Adah-Lynn, Kiersten, Chezlynn, Harlowe and Adriana.

George took special care and attention to the interests and needs of his grandchildren. He leaves a legacy of helpfulness and kindness by putting the needs of others before himself. George combined his passion for farming and music, forming the “Tune Tillers” gospel quartet with fellow farmers. He also lent his tenor voice for fifty plus years with Barbershop choruses in both Woodstock and Simcoe.

A private family gathering has taken place on October 31st, in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, Tillsonburg, followed by cremation.
