Obituary for George Ypma

YPMA, George (July 13, 1937 – October 23, 2021)

Our hearts are broken, but our spirits rejoice that our Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa, George Ypma of Mt. Elgin, was welcomed safely into the arms of Jesus on Saturday evening at London Health Sciences Centre, University Campus in his 85th year. George was born in Lollum, Friesland, the Netherlands. He immigrated to Canada with his parents and siblings when he was 10 years old. Farming was his passion and he was actively involved with the field work until 3 weeks prior to his death. George loved his Lord and his church and served both his entire life.
George was loved deeply and will be missed so much by his wife, Aafke (Hamstra) Ypma, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jane & Jack Van de Hoef, Angela van de Hoef, Steve & Liza, Jill & Cora van de Hoef, Jason & Stacy, Nicholas & Hannah Vande Hoef, Lynette van de Hoef-Meyers & Dan Meyers, Jessica Van de Hoef; Arnold & Kathy Ypma, David Ypma, Brad & Meredith, Trevor, Andrew & Kathryn Ypma, Andrea Ypma, Kevin & Janessa Ypma; Marilyn and Harry Dykxhoorn, Ryan & Annette, Shane & Travis Dykxhoorn, Ingrid & Robin, Kiersten, Owen, Maddison & Noah Kent, Janelle & Nathan, Colton, Kaylee & Austin Vogel, Alana & Ryan, Adalie & Clara Greidanus; Joanne and Rob Alblas, Gordon & Andrea, Aria & Jonathan Alblas, Christopher Alblas, Aleta & Nathan Klassen; Peter & Charlena Ypma, Catherine Ypma, Brandon & Bethany Ypma, Brittany & Aaron Pennings, Megan Ypma, Matthew Ypma; William Ypma.
George will also be dearly missed by brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and many friends.

The family invites relatives and friends to visitation on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, 2-4, 7-9 pm at Crosspoint Community Church, 150 Concession St. W. Tillsonburg. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 1:00 pm also at Crosspoint Community Church. Please note masks must be worn and social distancing maintained.
