Obituary for Irene Vegh

VEGH, Irene (July 30, 1934 – December 16, 2021) –

We the family sadly announce the passing of our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many, Irene Vegh, a resident of Tillsonburg, at the age of 87. Born in Kajar, Hungary, daughter to the late Janos Mondovits and the late Rozalia (Pinter) Mondovits. Reunited in Heaven with her much loved husband of 45 years, Louis Vegh (October 22, 2010). Much loved mother and mother-in-law of: Lou Vegh (Jeanne Buckley) and their daughter Julia, of Thornhill and Marianne Vegh, of Toronto. Survived by a sister Zsuzsanna Mondovits and a niece Zsuzsanna Horvath, both of Hungary. Predeceased by her sister Marika Mondovits (2020), of Hungary. Also survived by special relatives, Sandor and Timea Kocsis and their family. Louis and Irene were married July 31, 1965, in Hungary. On May 3rd, 1966, they started their life together in Canada with the promise of new opportunities. Irene was a wonderful wife and mother who always kept her family’s well-being as her first priority. She was a kind hearted, caring and thoughtful person, not only to her family but also to friends, her church community and to neighbours. Irene loved gardening and each year had terrific flower and vegetable gardens. Irene was a very dedicated volunteer with the St. Ladislaus Church - Ladies Auxiliary and was a devout and prayerful member of the Holy Name Society, Courtland. Her presence will truly be missed.

In Remembrance of Irene’s faith and a life well lived, a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 51 Venison Street West, Tillsonburg by Rev. Fr. Ben Huyge on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. All attendees must wear a face mask, follow social distancing guidelines and RSVP in advance (by clicking the blue RSVP button at Irene’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com). Interment follows in the St. Ladislaus R.C. Cemetery, Courtland. As expressions of sympathy, all who knew Irene are invited to share warm memories, favourite photos, send flowers, or contribute memorial donations to the “V.O.N.
