Obituary for Georgette (Van Belle) Coppens

COPPENS, Georgette (April 29, 1941 – March 18, 2023) –

Passed away, peacefully, at Extendicare Halton Hills, on Saturday, March 18, 2023, Georgette Coppens of Langton and Tillsonburg, in her 82nd year. Georgette farmed tobacco for 39 years in the Langton area (just west of Deer Creek Dam at the corner of HWY 45 and Hazen Road), alongside her much-loved husband of 60 years, Robert Cyril Coppens Sr. (deceased April 13, 2020). It was here they raised their family of three children: Bobby Coppens Jr., of Tillsonburg; late Richard Coppens (1984) and Roxanne (Jeff) Van Damme, of Georgetown. Georgette was particularly proud of her two grandsons Alex Van Damme and Zach Van Damme. Georgette is survived by her siblings Marguerite and Lawrence. Predeceased by her parents Marcel and Celina Van Belle, brothers: George, Raymond, Robert, Gerald, and her sister Madeliene. Georgette was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Langton and Sacred Heart Church C.W.L. member for over 30 years. Her kind nature, generous soul, and ability to cook the best cabbage rolls in all of Norfolk will always be remembered. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who always put family first. We will miss your hugs Mom/Grandma!

Thank you to the staff at Extendicare Halton Hills, and also to extended family members and friends for the kindness and compassion shared during this difficult time.
