Obituary for Jean Margaret Hamm (Anstee)

It is with great sadness we the family announce the passing of our much-loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many, Jean Margaret Hamm, on April 15th, 2021 at the V.O.N. Sakura House, Woodstock, at the age of 87. Born in Hamilton, to the late William Anstee and late Ann (Henderson) Anstee. Jean was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Langton. For almost 50-years, she was a member of the Langton Women’s Institute and Sacred Heart Church Catholic Women’s League. Also, a former member of the Langton Fall Fair Board Committee and she was an active fundraiser and volunteer with the March of Dimes Canada. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, needlepoint, and quilting. Predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Charles Morley (Moe) Hamm (January 23, 2011). Always a caring mother to Shirley (Jim McDowell), of Langton; Debbie (late Ray Causyn), of Brownsville; Pamela (Tom Byron), of Simcoe; Chuck Hamm (Arlene Vandevelde), of Tillsonburg; Kimberly (Kirk Stanley), of Vittoria; daughter-in-law Susan Hamm, of Woodstock. Loving grandmother to Tim (Carolyn), Matthew (Cheryl), Zachary, Joel (Kerri), Tyler (Shay), Cody, Dennis, Jessie, Logan, Jamie Lynn (Jonathan), and Gillian (Felix). Special great-grandmother to Austin, Brock, Sophia, Danica, Charlotte, Emma, Liam, and Haven. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins. Predeceased by her much-loved son Norm (September 29, 2002).

In keeping with Jean’s expressed wishes, a Private Funeral Liturgy Service will be celebrated in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes – Burial and Cremation Services Inc. Chapel, 40 Queen Street, Langton on Sunday, April 18th, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Father Thomas Kuriacko. Regrettably, due to COVID-related attendance restrictions, this will be a private family event at this time. A private family inurnment will take place on Wednesday, April 21st at 12:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery, Langton. Friends and relatives are invited to offer their support by posting photos, contributing donations in memoriam, and by sharing heartfelt memories on Jean’s tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com.
