Obituary

We, the Vermeersch family, wish to announce the passing of our special daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, on June 19th, 2020, Jeannine Valentine (Diagre) Vermeersch, of Norwich, in her 72nd year. Born in Kortrijk, Belgium to the late Edward Diagre and survived by her caring mother Sylvia (DeWeerdt) Diagre, of Norwich. Jeannine is a member of Our Lady Queen of Martyr’s Catholic Church, Delhi. Jeannine grew up working on the family farm, then she worked at Fleck for 20 years, alongside two of her lifelong friends Margaret Kalocsai and Lillian Dooms. She farmed alongside Joel and became a caregiver for her beloved mother Sylvia and Joel in more recent years. Jeannine is recently predeceased by her beloved husband Joel Jozef Vermeersch (April 16, 2020), with which they shared 48 wonderful years together. Beloved mother to Troy Vermeersch, of Woodstock and Nathan (Amanda) Vermeersch, of Ingersoll. Dearly missed by her 5 grandchildren Tyron, Brennan, Aries, Makayla and Noelle. Lovingly remembered by her siblings: Jenny (Frank) Landuyt; Christine Vander Heide; Nadine (Raymond) Bunko; Michel (Debra) Diagre and by in-laws: George (Willy) Vermeersch, John Vermeersch, Dan (Dianne) Vermeersch, Noel (Dorothy) Vermeersch, Clara Dehens (Urbain), Georgette Goris (Marcel), Jenny Bouw (Peter). Always remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister-in-law Lea Beelprez (survived by husband Joel).

In keeping with Jeannine’s wishes, but in light of COVID-19 physical distancing regulations, a Private Family Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to Celebrate both Jeannine and Joel’s Legacies will be held on Wednesday, June 24th, 2020 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tillsonburg by Rev. Fr. John Pirt and Rev. Fr. Al Dufraimont, of Our Lady Queen of Martyr’s Catholic Church, Delhi. Interment will follow in the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Scheduled visitation will take place in the evening on Tuesday June 23rd, 2020 in the MAURICE J. VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOMES – BURIAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC. Chapel, 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg. We were so sad to read that Jeannine lost her battle a couple of weeks ago. George was undergoing the same treatment last year, and over the course of 12 weeks, we got to know both Jeannine & Joel. We were witness to the purchase of the robot vacuum, and took Pringles as a treat for Joel. Your tribute to her speaks of her kind and caring nature and we experienced that kindness. She finished her treatments before George, but they still drove back into Woodstock to say Hi and have a chat during his last 2 sessions. We will never forget that. We are sure that the last couple of months after Joel died were very hard for Jeannine, as well as her family. As much as they will be missed, we are happy for them that they are reunited with no pain; no stress of treatments and appointments, and finally, no sorrow. We offer our sympathy to their family and friends. George & Brenda Junker

Dearest Troy, Nathan, Ida, Jenny, Christine, Nadine, Michael and loved ones,
We were so shocked and saddened to learn of Jeannine's passing. In the quiet moments, when the hurt is hard to bear, may love become your shelter and may the beauty of precious memories be your comfort.
Joel & Jeannine are now in perfect health and happiness and will navigate with you through this painful journey of grief!
With caring sympathy and friendship,
