Obituary for Jeannine Valentine Vermeersch (Diagre)

We, the Vermeersch family, wish to announce the passing of our special daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, on June 19th, 2020, Jeannine Valentine (Diagre) Vermeersch, of Norwich, in her 72nd year. Born in Kortrijk, Belgium to the late Edward Diagre and survived by her caring mother Sylvia (DeWeerdt) Diagre, of Norwich. Jeannine is a member of Our Lady Queen of Martyr’s Catholic Church, Delhi. Jeannine grew up working on the family farm, then she worked at Fleck for 20 years, alongside two of her lifelong friends Margaret Kalocsai and Lillian Dooms. She farmed alongside Joel and became a caregiver for her beloved mother Sylvia and Joel in more recent years. Jeannine is recently predeceased by her beloved husband Joel Jozef Vermeersch (April 16, 2020), with which they shared 48 wonderful years together. Beloved mother to Troy Vermeersch, of Woodstock and Nathan (Amanda) Vermeersch, of Ingersoll. Dearly missed by her 5 grandchildren Tyron, Brennan, Aries, Makayla and Noelle. Lovingly remembered by her siblings: Jenny (Frank) Landuyt; Christine Vander Heide; Nadine (Raymond) Bunko; Michel (Debra) Diagre and by in-laws: George (Willy) Vermeersch, John Vermeersch, Dan (Dianne) Vermeersch, Noel (Dorothy) Vermeersch, Clara Dehens (Urbain), Georgette Goris (Marcel), Jenny Bouw (Peter). Always remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister-in-law Lea Beelprez (survived by husband Joel).

In keeping with Jeannine’s wishes, but in light of COVID-19 physical distancing regulations, a Private Family Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to Celebrate both Jeannine and Joel’s Legacies will be held on Wednesday, June 24th, 2020 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tillsonburg by Rev. Fr. John Pirt and Rev. Fr. Al Dufraimont, of Our Lady Queen of Martyr’s Catholic Church, Delhi. Interment will follow in the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Scheduled visitation will take place in the evening on Tuesday June 23rd, 2020 in the MAURICE J. VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOMES – BURIAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC. Chapel, 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg. On Jeannine’s tribute page (at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com), relatives and friends are invited to share their favourite photos, memories, express condolences, or make memorial donations in Jeannine’s memory to the “Canadian Cancer Society,” through the Maurice J.
