It is with sincere sorrow the Vermeersch family wishes to announce the passing of their special husband, father, grandfather and brother, on April 16th, 2020 at Woodstock General Hospital, Joel Jozef Vermeersch, of Norwich, in his 72nd year. Born in Belgium to the late Gaston Vermeersch and late former Rachel Morreel. Joel will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Jeannine (Diagre) Vermeersch. Joel leaves behind two beloved sons Troy Vermeersch, of Woodstock and Nathan (Amanda) Vermeersch, of Ingersoll. Special grandpa to Tyron, Brennan, Aries, Makayla and Noelle. Lovingly remembered by his siblings: George (Willy), John, Dan (Dianne), Noel (Dorothy), Clara Dehens (Urbain), Georgette Goris (Marcel), Jenny Bouw (Peter) and by in-laws: Jenny (Frank) Landuyt, Christine Vander Heide, Nadine (Raymond) Bunko, and Michel (Debra) Diagre. Always remembered by his mother-in-law Sylvia Diagre, and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Lea Beelprez (survived by husband Joel).

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, a private family gathering will take place in the MAURICE J. VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOMES – BURIAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC. Chapel, 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg. A Private Family Graveside Service will follow in the Tillsonburg Cemetery, by Rev. Father Al Dufraimont, of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish, Delhi. On Joel’s tribute page (at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com), relatives and friends are invited to share their favourite photos, memories, express condolences, or contribute (in lieu of flowers due to allergies) memorial donations in Joel’s memory to the “Canadian Cancer Society,” through the Maurice J.
