Obituary for John Raphael Spriet

John Raphael Spriet, 74, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2021 at McCormick Home in London. Born in Tillsonburg, he was the youngest son of Leon and Renilde (De Vos) Spriet. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doris (McDowell), and by his four children: John (Lisa), Pamela, David, and Michael. He was an adoring grandpa to Luka, Claire, and Natalie Baresic. Survived by three siblings Rosa, Andrew and Mary. Predeceased by siblings Celeste, Roger, Lizette, Simone and infant Andrew.

John worked as a civil engineer for Spriet Associates in London. In his free time, John could always be found on a local golf course. In the colder months, he was always ready and willing to tackle the surrounding ski hills, both near and far. John was a member of St. George’s Catholic Church in Byron.

John wished to be cremated, and due to covid-related attendance restrictions, the funeral liturgy was a private family event. It was held in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, Langton by Father Thomas Kuriacko, of Sacred Heart R.C. Church of Langton. Private inurnment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, 24 Albert Street, Langton.
