Obituary for Jorden Van de Munt

Van de Munt, Jorden (1926-2022) –

Passed away peacefully, at Maple Manor Long Term Care, Tillsonburg on Thursday, January 13th, 2022, at the age of 95. Born on April 1, 1926, in Barneveld, Holland to the late Cornelis Van de Munt and late former Gerritje Van Ee. Jorden immigrated to Canada in 1951 with his late wife “Jannie” Jannigje (Van’tVoort) (July 2, 1969), following 18 months of mandatory service in the Royal Netherlands Army, stationed in Indonesia. Jorden was employed on various farms in Canada, until he was able to purchase his own farm in 1956. It was here on Springer Hill Road (RR4 Aylmer, Corinth) that he was a proud Dairy Farmer until 1980, when he switched to producing Beef. Jorden will be remembered for his strong work ethic, which he expected from others and for his love of being a farmer.

Jorden leaves behind his loved partner Joanna VanAarsen, of Tillsonburg. Jorden is survived by his children: Carel (Betty) Van de Munt; Maria Van de Munt; Martha (Chuck) Bancroft; Margaret Van de Munt (Grant); Jorden Jr. Van de Munt; Edward (Carol) Van de Munt; and Debra (Benson) Chilcott. Also survived by 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, a sister Gerritje Van de Munt (late Henk), a sister-in-law Hendrika Van de Munt (late Gerrit) and by nieces and nephews.
