Obituary for Jules Joseph Desittere

DESITTERE, Jules Joseph (February 1, 1933 – June 29, 2022)

Passed away, peacefully, after a courageous struggle with chronic illness, on Wednesday, June 29th, 2022, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, at the age of 89. Born in Belgium, Jules came to Canada at 6 years old, with his mother Madeline (Madue) Meyer, step-father Cornelius Meyer and sisters, after the war broke out throughout Europe. Jules learned the Commercial Painting Trade and was a well-known perfectionist who “treated your home as he would treat his own home,” throughout the Tri-County area. He had a strong work ethic and he liked to keep busy. Jules was recently predeceased by his much-loved wife of 63 years, Virginia Rosina (Oliver) Desittere (Nov. 17, 2021). Much loved father to Dean Desittere, of Tillsonburg and Cheryl Ann Desittere, of Tillsonburg. Always a proud and loving grandfather of Ryan. Survived by a stepbrother Frank Meyer, of Brownsville. Predeceased by his two sisters: Erma Legace and Georgette Nethercott.

A public graveside service to remember both Virginia and Jules will take place on Tuesday, July 26th, 2022 at 1:00pm in the New Road Cemetery. Words of remembrance will be shared by Chaplain Tina Dias. All who knew Jules are invited to share special memories, letters of condolence, and contribute memorial donations to the “Alzheimer Society of Oxford” or to any charity of your choice via Jules’ online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com or by contacting the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Service., 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg (519)842-4238, which has been entrusted with all arrangements, with confidence.
