Obituary for Katherine "Katie" Goepfrich (Emrich)

Passed away, peacefully, on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at the Maple Manor Residence, Tillsonburg, Katherine (Emrich) Goepfrich, formerly of the Otterville area in her 96th year. Born in Liebling, Romania, daughter of the late Joseph Emrich and the late Barbara (Tindorf) Emrich. Katherine was well known for her love of knitting, cooking delicious food, baking fantastic desserts and her outstanding vegetable garden. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years Jack Goepfrich (1998). Loved mother and mother-in-law of Marlene Goepfrich (Richard Stanley), Tillsonburg; and late Barbara Durand (deceased in 2013) and survived by a son-in-law Dominique, Moncton, New Brunswick. Proud grandmother of Sylvia (Darren Corning) and their Children: Deacon, Lucy; Natalie Durand (Colin Gauvin) and Gregory Durand (Laura Bonnet). Katherine’s brothers and sisters included: a brother the late Joseph and late Ruth Emrich; a sister Joanne (late Ray Kirby), Brantford; a brother Henry Emrich (Marlene), Simcoe; a sister Barbara (Doug Reeves), Woodstock; a sister Marie Kirby and late Harold, Brantford; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends, neighbours and relatives will be received by Katherine’s daughter Marlene and her husband Richard on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from 6 to 9 pm at the MAURICE J. VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOMES – BURIAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg (519) 842-4238. Further visitation will be held Wednesday, September 25th from 10 to 11 am at the Peace Lutheran Church, Tillsonburg. Funeral Service to Celebrate the Life of Katherine Goepfrich to be conducted at the Peace Lutheran Church, 60 Young Street, Tillsonburg by Pastor Paul Schallhorn on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at 11 am. Interment follows in the Tillsonburg Cemetery. A special thank you to the staff at Maple Manor for their thoughtful care over the past few months. Memorial Donations to the “Peace Lutheran Church”, the “Arthritis Society” or the “Canadian Diabetes Association” may be made by cheque through the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes, Tillsonburg.
