OLDRIDGE, Leona Pearl (nee Grundy) (September 4, 1933 - July 8, 2022)
Passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8th, 2022, at the age of 88, at home, with her loving family by her side, Leona Pearl (nee Grundy) a resident of Delmer, Ontario. Predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Robert (Bob) W. Oldridge (December 26, 2011). Born in Strathroy, September 4, 1933, Leona was a graduate of London Business College and a Sunday School teacher at Delmer United Church for many years.
Dearly loved mother of Dan Oldridge (Chris), Tom Oldridge (Becky), Ruth Empey Oldridge (Pete) and Lillian Bolt (Mike). Cherished grandmother of Steve Empey, Rob Oldridge, Pete Oldridge, Nathan Oldridge, and Chelsey Oldridge; and great-grandmother of Sophia Oldridge and Emily Oldridge. Loved sister of Stella Shiel, Rae Grundy (Nancy), Allan Grundy, and Gloria Topping (Wayne). Predeceased by her parents Gordon and Myrtle (Noyes) Grundy, and eight siblings; Madalene, Edwin, Esther, William, Donna, Betty, Bruce, and an infant brother Robert; and her infant granddaughter Rosilee Empey. Also survived by sisters-in-law Doris Grundy and Barb Oldridge as well as Bob’s sisters Bertha, Rhoda, and Kay Oldridge. Leona will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as her many friends near Tillsonburg and her neighbours in Delmer where she lived for most of her life.
Leona loved fishing at Deer Lake with Bob and spending time there with family and friends. Leona will be fondly remembered for her deep faith, loving smile, caring nature and sense of humour.
Friends, neighbours, and relatives will be received by Leona’s family on Monday, July 11th, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, July 12th, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (service time) at the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc., 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. Funeral Service to celebrate Leona’s life and legacy to be conducted on Tuesday, July 12th, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes, Chapel, Tillsonburg, by Pastor Wayne Topping of Ingersoll.
