Obituary

Lillian arrived safely Home into the arms of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 23, 2020. Lillian “Till” Gladys Leone (Bates) Robinson, of RR4 Langton and formerly of Houghton Township, passed away at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, in her 85th year. Born in Toronto, to the late Arthur Bates and late former Rebecca Dean, Lillian’s strongest legacy is her love for her husband of 64 years, Harvey Robinson. They cherished their time together and she adored him, it was obvious to anyone who saw them. A proud member of Cultus United Church and U.C.W., Lillian set her beliefs into action with continuous prayer, learning and teaching through her faithful involvement as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. In Houghton Township, Lillian was the first coordinator of E.S.L (English as a second language), served on the First District Health Council from 1981-1987 and with the 1981 inception of the Mental Health Advisory Committee, served until 1989. Always community minded, she later participated in the Adult Basic Literacy Program at the Multi-Service Center, beginning in 1992.

Lillian will be dearly missed by her much-loved children Cindy (Dan) Puklicz, of Port Dover and Linda (Don) Barry, of Port Rowan. Predeceased by her beloved son Mark Richard Robinson (October 28, 2018) and survived by his wife Michelle Robinson, of Winfield, British Columbia. Beloved grandma to Christopher (Melissa) Puklicz, Shannon (Jeremy) Puklicz, Aspen (Ludovic) Gagne, Wyatt Barry, Wade (Paige) Barry, Daniel Robinson, Sierra Robinson and great grandma to Abigail, Greyson, Victoria, and David. Survived by her sister Jean and brother-in-law Ron Nevill, of St. Thomas and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her siblings John “Jack” Bates, Charles Ronald Bates, Maryann (Earl) Wellesley, Betty (Erwin) Turill, and Barbara (Bill) Gorvett.

After reading the write up and comments, I realized Lillian was a wonderful sweet person just like her mother, Rebecca. Mrs. Bates taught me in Sunday school at Vienna United Church. She had a great way of getting her students to learn Bible verses. After so many verses learned, you would earn a chocolate bar. I knew some of her family like the Gorvett family and Charlie Bates. sincere condolences to her family. Laurie Main Bartlett

I have so many wonderful memories of Lillian. There aren't enough words to adequately express my appreciation of her as a very dear friend. They say your barber/hairdresser knows everything. Lillian and I shared many stories in depth about our faith , families and almost everything. Dan and Harvey spent a lot of time while we gabbed as well. As Lillian and I bonded, Dan and Harvey tried to solve all the world's problems! When Harvey's barber retired I was privileged to get another client. What an honour to have had such an intimate relationship with Lillian. Also to know that one day I'll see her again. Blessings to all the family. We're praying for all. Especially Harvey. Harvey, Cindy, Linda and Families. I was so saddened to read of the loss of Lillian. I have very fond memories of Lillian and your entire family. She was always a delight to visit with. You should never put off what you can do today, something I will regret. Lillian sent me such a beautiful thank you card after loosing Mark and asked for me to stop by and visit . Unfortunately that never happened and I will always miss that visit that never happened. Our families were friends for many years, as well as I will always remember babysitting Mark, Linda and Cindy. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you during this most difficult time. Sending virtual hugs to each of you. Sandra Rutledge

Linda & family,
My sincere condolences. The loss of a mother can be life at its most difficult. Living that loss in these days without the close support of family & friends must take that grief to a whole other level. May moments spent with her in times past be treasures to bear you up in your grief. Ellen Bauer
