Obituary for Madeleine Maria Fasseel (Vanhooren)

Passed away, peacefully, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on June 17, 2020, Madeleine Maria (Vanhooren) Fasseel, at the age of 87. Born in Leke, W.F., Belgium to the late Alois Vanhooren and late former Pharahilda VanHaverbeke. Madeleine farmed tobacco alongside her late husband of 58 years, Camiel Albert Fasseel (Jan. 27, 2013). Madeleine was a longtime member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Port Burwell, the Langton Merry Makers and was an enthusiastic volunteer at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #524, Port Burwell. Always a nurturing mother, she cared deeply for her three beloved children: Jerry (Cindy) Fasseel, of RR2 Vienna; Larry (Judy) Fasseel, of RR2 Port Burwell; and Susie Fasseel (Steve Lyle), of RR2 Vienna. Dearly missed by her five grandchildren Eric (Sasha); Jason; Scott (Shawna); Jackie (David); Jennifer (Paul) and by two special great-grandsons Mason and Wesley. Predeceased by her sister Maria (2012) (late Albert Meulemeester 2017) and brother-in-law Robert Fasseel (2019) (late Julie 2018).

In keeping with Madeleine’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation nor a formal memorial service. Madeleine’s family will congregate on Saturday, June 20th in the Tillsonburg Cemetery to privately share memories and remember her Life and Legacy.
