Obituary for Magdolna Hasilo (Fleisz)

HASILO, Magdolna (nee Fleisz) (March 26, 1932 – June 26, 2022) –

On Sunday, June 26th, 2022, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, after a fulfilling and well lived life, our much-loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Magdolna Hasilo passed away, peacefully, in her 91st year. Magdolna was born in Mol, Yugoslavia, emigrating to Canada in 1969, with her husband of 57 years, Mathew Hasilo (June 5, 2009) and their family, to the Rodney area, before settling in Tillsonburg. Magdolna was a dedicated member of St. Ladislaus R.C Church, and long-time director, member, and volunteer with the Delhi District Hungarian Hall. Magdolna is lovingly remembered by her daughters and their families: Irene Nemeth (late husband Dave, 2009), of Tillsonburg and Elvira Koteles (Ron Rebry), of RR2 Tillsonburg. Forever loved by her grandchildren: Lisa (Ryan), of Tillsonburg; Michael (Kaitlin), of St. Williams; Jason (Jolene), of Tillsonburg; Ashley (Devin), of Courtland; Michelle (Brandon), of St. Williams; Christopher (Jessica), of Tillsonburg; Jillian (Darrick), of Tillsonburg. Special great-grandmother to: Mackenzie, Carson, Tristan, Ella, Levi, Brooks, Everly, Peyton, Ethan, Lennon, Marner, Bexley, Cheyanne, Brandy, Ramona, Briar. Survived by her sister Katherine Borbely, sister-in-law Veronica Fleisz, as well as by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her son-in-law Chris Koteles (2010), parents Michael and Elisabeth Fleisz, as well as by several siblings and their partners: Paul Fleisz, Joe Fleisz, George Fleisz, Francis Rihter, Paul Rihter, Michael Fleisz, Julie Fleisz, Magdolinda Fleisz. Also predeceased by her brother-in-law Paul Hasilo and her father-in-law Steve Hasilo and mother-in-law Maria (Fodor) Hasilo.

In keeping with Magdolna’s wishes, a private family graveside service and interment will take place on Saturday, July 2nd, in St. Ladislaus R.C. Cemetery, Courtland. Friends, neighbours and relatives are invited to attend a public visitation, held on Thursday, June 30th, 2022, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc. Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. A Catholic Funeral Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, by Rev. Fr. Tony Del Ciancio, of St. Mary’s R.C. Church.
