Obituary for Maurice George Casier Sr.
Casier, Maurice George Sr. (June 12th, 1945 – December 25th, 2021) –
It is with sadness, we the Casier family announce the passing of our much-loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law and friend, Maurice George Casier Sr., at his late Delhi residence, on December 25th, 2021, at the age of 76, following a tough battle with cancer. Predeceased by his wife of 55 wonderful years, Doreen (Vanacker) Casier (March 1, 2021). Maurice is survived by his much-loved children and grandchildren: son Maurice Casier Jr., of Tillsonburg and his daughter Brook Waugh; daughter Kimberly-Ann Casier, of Delhi and her children Ryan Casier; Alexandra Casier (Tyler Smith) and their son (Maurice’s great-grandson) Rhett Tyler James Casier-Smith. Alexandra and Tyler’s son was welcomed in March of 2021, shortly after Doreen had passed. Doreen and Maurice could not wait to be great-grandparents to this little one. Maurice is survived by his sisters: Leona Casier, Pauline Zirkel (John), Yvonne Varga (Eugene), all of Tillsonburg and by many nieces and nephews. Maurice was a very happy go lucky man. Always a proud grandfather and great grandfather, Maurice shared a special bond with his grandson (and “buddy”) Ryan. Maurice loved and genuinely looked forward to spending his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild. In his spare time, Maurice enjoyed golfing, ATVing, riding his motorcycle and hunting/archery. Maurice never missed a chance to hang out with his best friend and neighbour, Jim Long.
In Celebrating Maurice’s Life and Legacy, all who knew Maurice are invited to attend a public visitation on Wednesday, December 29th, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes – Burial and Cremation Services Inc. Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. A Celebration of Maurice’s Life will take place on Wednesday, December 29th, at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, MC’d by his sister-in-law Donna Vanacker. Please note, due to government-implemented capacity restrictions, all visitation and celebration of life attendees must RSVP for an available timeslot by clicking the blue ‘RSVP button’ on Maurice’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com. All attendees must wear a mask and maintain social distancing regulations. Cremation follows, with later private inurnment in the Glen Meyer Baptist Cemetery.
