Obituary for Patricia (Swift) (Karn) Alden

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Patricia (Swift) (Karn) Alden, of Maple Manor, Tillsonburg on December 9th, 2020, at the age of 93. Born in Island Brooke, Quebec on June 20th, 1927 to the late John Swift and late former Alice Best. Patricia was a member of the former Brownsville United Church, then later became a member of Avondale United Church, Tillsonburg, where she enjoyed many fond memories as a ‘Melody Maker.’ In her spare time Patricia was very crafty and she enjoyed painting and sewing clothing for her family. Predeceased by her first husband Arnold Alden (Jan 29, 1986) and by her second husband Dr. Willard J. Karn (May 8, 2009). Beloved mother and mother-in-law to Joanne Young, of Brownsville; the late Brian Alden (2020) (survived by wife Katherine), of St. Thomas; the late Sharon Cattle (2014) (survived by husband Jim), of Tillsonburg; Sandy (George) Cattle, of Brownsville; Susan Weber (Nino Petrolia), of Edmonton, Alberta; John (Melody) Alden, of Grand Prairie, Alberta; Shelley Longdo (Larry Hughes), of Brownsville; Jeff Alden (Patty Smith), of Tillsonburg. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by her siblings Jimmy, Johnny, Eileen and Alison.

Friends and relatives are invited to offer their support and care by sending flowers, posting photos, sharing favourite memories, and hugs from home on Patricia’s tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com. In keeping with Patricia’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to COVID-19 attendance-related restrictions, a private Graveside Service to Remember Patricia will take place in the Delmer Cemetery, by Rev. Pat Cook, voluntary associate minister at St. Paul’s United Church, Tillsonburg. Memorial Donations in memory of Patricia to the “Alzheimer Society of Oxford” or to the “ALS Society of Canada” would be gratefully acknowledged by the family and can be made through the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes – Burial and Cremation Services Inc., Tillsonburg (519-842-4238), entrusted with all arrangements, with confidence.
