Obituary for Patricia 'Pat' (Halyk) Dickson

Dickson, Patricia (‘Pat’) Elizabeth (Halyk) (December 1, 1949 – December 9, 2022)

It is with deep sadness that we the Dickson family announce the peaceful passing of our much-loved mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and friend, Patricia (‘Pat’) Elizabeth (nee Halyk) Dickson, after a courageous struggle with illness, at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, on Friday, December 9, at the age of 73. Pat will always be remembered for her sincere love and devotion to her family. Always a wonderful mother to her son Mark and to her daughter-in-law Anna and always a committed supporter to her beloved grandchildren Josie and Thomas. Pat was a member of the Tillsonburg Senior Centre. Pat had an active social life, and she leaves behind many good friends, with whom she enjoyed many coffee visits and good dinners. Pat is survived by her brother Jim Halyk (wife Jill), of Brantford, as well as by her in-laws Louise Halyk, of Burford, Donna Halyk, of Brantford; Scott Dickson (wife Gisele), of St. Thomas, and Marilyn FitzGerald of London. Also survived by nieces, nephews, and by cousins. Pat was predeceased by her much-loved husband, Alan Dickson (April 13, 2008). She was especially close to her mother Rose (2014) and is also predeceased by her father Jack Halyk (1976), her infant brother Paul Halyk, brother Bob Halyk, sister Linda Halyk (late husband Ken), brother Harold Halyk, and brother-in-law Harry Dickson.

In keeping with Pat’s expressed wishes, a traditional funeral service to celebrate her life and faith will be held on Thursday, December 15th, at 11 a.m., in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg, led by Rev. Fr. Osita Oluigbo, of St. John’s Anglican Church. Friends and family are invited to attend a public visitation on Wednesday, December 14th, between 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel. All funeral attendees are invited to attend a reception at the Carriage Hall (25 Brock St. W., Tillsonburg). Private family interment will be held in Woodland Cemetery, London. Everyone who knew Pat is invited to share favourite memories, special photos and personal condolences or to contribute memorial donations to the “T.D.M.H. Foundation” or to the "Helping Hand Food Bank" via Pat’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com or by contacting the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc., (519)842-4238, which has been entrusted with all funeral arrangements, with confidence.

“Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, especially Dr. Abdalla, for your care and compassion shown for Pat over these past weeks.”
