GOOSSENS, Rene Louis (1925-2021) –
Rene Louis Goossens passed away on October 18th at the age of 96 in the embrace of a loving family: his wife and soul mate of 71 years, Nellie Legein Goossens; his sisters, Doreen Marchuck and Yvonne Homick (deceased); his five children and their partners, Lee (Roland), Carol (Roger), Brian (Sue), Diane (Brian) and Jan (Margo); his nine grandchildren and their partners, Seth (Megan), Jarod (Niki), Jesse (Victoria), Ehren (Axel), Andrea (Dan), Emery (Ayu), Erik, Spencer and Marshall; and 6 great grandchildren, Oskar, Emily, Penny, Arthur, Maeve and Imogen. As Rene, himself, would say “I’ve had a good life.’ A good life indeed… Rene was an innovator in tobacco farming (an early adopter of bulk curing), an innovator in fish farming (using well water for raising trout), and a founder of the Otterville RC Flying Club. He will be missed by all his family and friends.
In keeping with Rene’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering and private interment will take place at a later date. All who knew Rene are encouraged to offer their support and care by sharing special memories, posting photos, or by contributing memorial donations to the charity of your choice through Rene’s tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com or by contacting the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes – Burial and Cremation Services Inc., Tillsonburg (519-842-4238), which has been entrusted with all arrangements, with confidence.
