Obituary for Rene John Rebry

REBRY, Rene John (November 9, 1961 - November 12, 2021)

It is with profound sadness, we, the Rebry family, announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of our much-loved husband, father, grampy, son, brother and friend to many, Rene John Rebry, of Clear Creek, as the result of injuries sustained from an accidental fall, on November 10th. Rene passed away, surrounded by his devoted wife Marilyn, and by his loving family on November 12th, 2021, at the London Health Sciences Centre - Victoria Campus, in his 61st year. Beloved son of Rogette (DeClercq) Rebry and late Maurice Rebry (June 23, 2021), and son in law of late Eric and Ruth Holland. Cherished husband and best friend of thirty-seven wonderful years of Marilyn (nee Holland) Rebry. Always a proud, loving father to his daughters Rachel (Daniel Clayton) of Guelph, Laura (Matthew O’Brien) of Mississauga, and to his son Michael (Alexandra) of Tillsonburg. Devoted “Grampy” to Charlotte, Jackson, Thomas, Ruth and Emery. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Gary (Jeannette) Rebry, of Woodstock; John (Ruth) Rebry, of Brantford; and Ron Rebry (Elvira Koteles) of Clear Creek, Don Holland (Hannah), of Tillsonburg, Monte Holland (Donna) of Ailsa Craig, and Jane Taylor (Doug) of London. Special uncle and friend to many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Survived by many friends throughout the area that he cared for deeply.

Rene was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Langton. Rene loved spending time with his wife Marilyn, three children and the sons and daughter in law they brought into his life. He held a special place in his heart for his much-loved grandchildren. It can be truly said that his family always meant the world to him at every moment of every day. The family believes Rene to now be a precious Guardian Angel, looking down on each of them, especially upon the birth of his new grandson Thomas who was just born on November 14, 2021.
Rene excelled at tobacco farming and his latest part-time adventure being a forklift driver all while out smarting the local chipmunks that roamed his backyard. Never a man to stray away from a game of cards, he made sure to keep track of the score mostly after he had already taken the lead. Rene took fashion cues from no one and could often be found wearing pants and shoes not approved for public. Never one to waste time, Rene was often found in his barn fiddling with something for his grandkids. It is not lost on his family that he passed away doing something that could have ‘waited until later’. Rene made many good friends while farming tobacco throughout the Clear Creek and Langton area and through his participation in the Langton hockey community. Rene’s memory and legacy will continue to live on, as a special inspiration to all who knew and loved him.

In keeping with Rene’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. A Private Family Funeral Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 19th, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. in the Maurice J.
