Sending our love to all. Ken and I just recently learned that Uncle Richard had passed away. We want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

As Uncle Richard and Aunt Shirley were my Godparents, I always felt a special connection with them. I still have the beautiful cross necklace they gave to me when I was a young girl.

There are so many cherished memories of wonderful times gone by. Christmas Eve's singing and dancing, while Uncle Richard and Uncle John played the accordion, harmonica et all. Trying to sing songs with the grown-ups (in Saxon) which was next to impossible! Listening, with fascination, to the stories of old.

I was always so happy when we went "home" to visit or when you came to Winnipeg to spend time with us. Uncle Richard was so easy-going and I can still hear him saying - well we just mosey along. His smiles came so easily, and Ken and I both appreciated how kind and gracious he was. So many fond memories as a child, and a greater appreciation as an adult, for all that he was.

Losing the ones we love, is a very difficult part of life. There is nothing we can say that will ease the grief that comes with it. Just know that we love you and that we are thinking of you.

Love, Susan & Ken

I was sorry to hear of Richard’s passing.
My Mom, Rose and my young brother Paul went to live with John and Anna in 1951/52 and help with the tobacco. We had just arrived from Germany in July, 1951.
Richard taught me all about horses and tractors and trucks. Paul and I went to school in Langton.
Then we moved on. to Toronto .In 1955 we bought 100 acres north of Burks Falls and settled Mom and Paul there.
Mom passed away in1990. age 76.
I am now 83 , live in the country near Guelph and enjoying good health, so far!
I last saw Richard. In 2011. We were our motorcycle, saw Rita also.
Perhaps we’ll see each other again.
Our condolences on the death of Richard.
