Obituary for Robert Ronald Butler

BUTLER, Robert (May 3rd, 1935- October 10th, 2021)-

Passed away, peacefully, on Sunday, October 10th, 2021, at the Delhi Long Term Care Centre, Robert Ronald Butler formerly of RR3 Delhi, in his 87th year. Born in Somerset, King’s County, Nova Scotia son of the late Lesley and Mary Ellen (Arenburg) Butler. (Robert was a dedicated former employee of the Cold Spring Farms, Courtland for over 20 years), Fernlea Flowers, RR3 Delhi and the Donald Dean Tobacco Farm.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Georgie (Wiles) Crowell (April 30, 2004). Much loved father and father-in-law of Edna (Garnet) Kane, Langton; Chris (Debbie) Crowell, Bancroft; Rosalie (Stuart Pearson), Forest; Roberta Dunlop, Eden; Robert (Sue) Crowell), Tillsonburg. Proud and loving grandfather of ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by a daughter Susan Ellis (2014) and son Raymond Crowell. Also predeceased by 5 sisters and 7 brothers and Robert’s dear friend Marion Walker. Robert was the last member of the Butler family clan which had thirteen children.

A Public Funeral Service to Celebrate Robert’s Life will be held on Thursday, October 14th, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc. Chapel, 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg, by Pastor Stephen Kring of the Bethesda Baptist Church of Delhi. Interment follows in Tillsonburg Cemetery, 193 Simcoe Street, Tillsonburg. Friends, neighbours and relatives are invited to attend public visitation, which will be held on Thursday, October 14th, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, Tillsonburg. All guests must pre-register for an available time slot via Robert’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com or by calling the funeral home between 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In keeping with Ontario Government Regulations, all attendees must wear a face covering and are asked to maintain social distancing guidelines.
