Rand, Robert Newell (January 22, 1944 – January 6, 2022) –
Robert Newell Rand, of Tillsonburg, passed away peacefully at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, on January 6, 2022, at the age of 77, with his loving wife Doris and family by his side. Beloved husband and best friend for 41 years, of Doris Marilyn Rand (nee Vermeersch). Loved father and father-in-law to: Debbie Norman (Barry), of Langton; Shawn Rand, of Langton; stepfather of Rhonda Sergeant (John), of Tillsonburg; Rosemary Dean (Michael), of Tillsonburg; Tammy Csomos (John), of Courtland; Helena Clark (Matthew), of Barrie. Cherished grandfather of Brandon Norman, Brett Norman (Val), Adam Mayo (Miranda), Kyle Mayo (Morgan), Megan Mayo, Tanya Basom (Tao), Tyler Sergeant (Carley), Lisa Vandergulick (Steve), Melissa Hunt (Ken), Amanda Weigel (Adam), Jennifer Dean (Ali), Tiffany Swick (Darren), Kristen Csomos (Jason), Brandyn Buckle, Dorion Buckle, Kaelon Buckle and survived by 13 much-loved great-grandchildren. Caring brother to Ruby Pehlemann (Bruce), of Bury, Quebec; Richard Rand (Delma), of Mount Forest; Trudy Doherty (Alvin) of Lennoxville, Quebec. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Clinton Rand (2000) and Doreen (nee McCormick) Rand (2019), as well as by a brother Dale Rand. Robert was a dedicated trucker for many years, working for Murray Burger Trucking, Fairground; Livingston’s Transport, Tillsonburg; Sandham Transport Ltd., Tillsonburg; and Verspeeten Cartage, Ingersoll. As a community volunteer, Robert served as an Exemplary Volunteer Firefighter with the Fairground Fire Station, Norfolk Fire and Rescue. Robert was a former Corps Sergeant Major with the Tillsonburg Salvation Army.
In keeping with Robert’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Roberts Life and Legacy will take place later, when covid-related indoor dining and attendance restrictions are eased. In the spring of 2022, a graveside service will be held in the Tillsonburg Cemetery, by Pastor Rayburn Lansdell, with inurnment in the Tillsonburg Cemetery Columbarium Wall 6.
