Obituary for Roland Howard "Rolly" Phillips

Passed away after a determined, courageous struggle with illness, Roland Howard Phillips Jr., a resident of Tillsonburg, in his 56th year. Born in Woodstock, son of Roland and Patricia (Patterson) Phillips, son-in-law of Barb Ferris (late Len), of Tillsonburg. Best friend and partner for over thirty years of Mary Ann Ferris-Southcott, Tillsonburg. Loving father of Jordon Phillips who made his dad proud by continuing the family trade as a mechanic using his dad’s tools. Roland’s boys were his pride and joy. Predeceased by an infant son James Phillips and a son Justin Phillips. Roland had two sisters: Susan Phillips (Doug) and family, Tillsonburg and Sandra Phillips (Reinhart) and family, Tillsonburg and a step- brother Jack Crosier and family, Ingersoll. Roland once owned R&M Landscaping, London and loved helping his many satisfied customers. He specialized in working on classic cars and he enjoyed ‘’breathing new life’’ into these cars, much to the satisfaction of their owners. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting at the family cabin up north. He also loved snowmobiling and four-wheeling with the boys and ‘Bear,’ the family dog. He was also a former dedicated employee at Zubics, London for fourteen years.

Friends and relatives are invited to offer their support and care by sending flowers, posting photos, tributes and hugs from home on Roland’s tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, public visitation will be LIMITED to only guests that sign up for a specific time to attend. Time slots will be available by calling (519-842-4238). Each person that plans on attending must be listed as a quest. Guests are required to wear face masks and maintain social distancing rules. Guests are encouraged to attend only when their time slot begins. If guests arrive too early they are asked to wait in their vehicle. If guests arrive too late they will not be permitted to enter. Public visitation is planned for Monday, June 29th from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm only. Complete Funeral Service to Celebrate Roland’s Life will be celebrated Tuesday morning, June 30th, 2020 in the MAURICE J. VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOMES – BURIAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., Chapel, 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg by Tina Dias, Life Celebrant. Cremation follows. Memorial donations in Roland’s memory to the charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family and can be made through the Maurice J.
