Obituary for Serge Couture

Passed away, peacefully, with his loving wife Rosie by his side, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, Serge Couture, at the age of 64. Serge was born in Lac-Mégantic, Quebec, to the late Leandre (Leo) Couture and survived by his loving mother Bernadette (Deslongchamps) Couture, of Langton. Serge leaves behind his much-loved wife of 37 years Rosemary ‘Rosie’ Couture and his caring daughter Siobhan Couture, both of Tillsonburg. Survived by his siblings Peter Couture (Laurie), of Brownsville, and John Couture, of Eden. Also survived by his sister-in-law Valerie (late Bernard) Couture, of Paris; sister-in-law Cathy Greenfield (Gerry). Special uncle to Bryan Bari (Meghan), Adam Bari (Courtney), Steven Greenfield (Karaline), Jim Greenfield (Jess). Predeceased by two special sisters Monica (1973) and Susanne (1973). Serge was a dedicated ambulance attendant with Verhoeve Ambulance Services, Langton in his younger years. More recently, he was a dedicated material handler with TRW (now THK Rhythm Automotive), Tillsonburg for almost 37 years. Serge will be remembered for his devotion to his family, as a terrific husband and father, for being a caring, helpful neighbour and as someone that is always there to help. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

Due to COVID-19-related restrictions, public visitation will be limited to only guests that sign up for specific time to attend. Each person attending must be listed as a guest. Guests must bring and wear face masks and maintain social distancing rules. Guests are asked not to attend if they are ill, if they have been around someone else who is ill or have travelled. Guests are encouraged to attend only when their time slot begins. If guests arrive too early, they are asked to wait in their vehicle. If guests arrive too late, they may be unable to enter. In keeping with Serge’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. Public visitation will take place on Monday, November 16th, 2020 from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Service Inc. Chapel, 262 Broadway Street, with 5 time slots available: 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., 2:15 to 3:00 p.m., 3:15 to 4:00 p.m., 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and 7:15 to 8:00 p.m. Time slots will be available via RSVP on Serge’s tribute page or by calling (519-842-4238) between 9am and 4pm. A Private Christian Liturgy Service to Celebrate Serge’s Life will take place on Tuesday, November 17th, in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, Tillsonburg by Deacon Brian Hanley, of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Tillsonburg. Inurnment follows in the Tillsonburg Cemetery.
