Obituary for Susan Margaret (Thorpe) Weaver

WEAVER, Susan Margaret (Thorpe) (February 26, 1950 – March 26, 2023)

It is with great sadness that we the family wish to announce the peaceful passing of our much-loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, companion, and friend to many, Susan Margaret (Thorpe) Weaver, after a courageous struggle with cancer, on March 26, 2023, in her 74th year. Susan was born in Tillsonburg and a resident of Delhi. Susan will be remembered by many for her 35 years of dedicated service between the Tillsonburg Police, then the Ontario Provincial Police, as a dispatcher and administrator. Susan is lovingly remembered by her children David (Kim) DeBruyne, of Oakville; Robert DeBruyne, of Simcoe; Marianne (Steve Wesseling), of Delhi. Always a caring grandmother to Danielle (Tyler) Thompson-Love, Julia (Kyle) Hodgins, Jaszandra DeBruyne (Paris), Aiden, Jared, and Hadley Wesseling. Greatly missed by her great-grandchildren Alyssa, Maxwell, Emily, Nevan, Sky-Lee, Brielle, Damian, Serena, and Carter. Also survived by her caring companion Will Cromwell, of Brantford; brother John (Marlene) Thorpe, of Courtland; as well as by many close friends, her nephew Brad, and by cousins in England. Susan, also referred to as ‘Subie’ by her friends, will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her. Susan is predeceased by her 1st husband Maurice DeBruyne (March 4, 2022) and by her 2nd husband Roy Weaver (May 26, 2015).

In keeping with Susan’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place.
