Obituary for Victor Vital Rigole

RIGOLE, Victor Vital (March 25, 1937 – January 13, 2023) –

It is with sadness that we the Rigole family wish to announce the peaceful passing of our much-loved husband, father, brother, and friend, Victor Rigole, at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, on January 13th, 2023, at the age of 85. Victor was born in Tillsonburg and was a resident of St. Thomas. Dearly missed by his much-loved wife and best friend of 59 years, Marlene (Mauthe) Rigole. Lovingly remembered by his son Greg Rigole, of Toronto and by two daughters Shelley Rigole and Roberta Rigole, both of St. Thomas. Also survived by his siblings: Maurice (Geraldine) Rigole, of Tillsonburg; Dan (Lynn) Rigole, of Tillsonburg; Yvonne Rigole, of Simcoe; Randy Rigole, of Hamilton; as well as by his sister-in-law Patricia (Robert Long Jr.), of Langton. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Many will remember Victor for his 27 years of dedicated service with Canada Post (between Tillsonburg, Thamesford, Langton, Burford, Norwich and the Central Office in London). Always an avid baseball player, Victor competed with several men’s baseball leagues well into his 70s. He was a proud member of the Dorchester Canadians Men’s Slo-Pitch team for many years. He was one of the Dorchester players who joined the Mississauga Legend’s, a team which competed in and won the Huntsman’s World Senior’s Baseball Championship, in St. George, Utah. In his younger years he was invited to try out with the Pittsburgh Pirates MLB organization in Dunedin, Florida. More recently, he enjoyed playing golf and watching hockey and many other sports on television. He will forever be remembered as a committed and caring husband and father. Vic Rigole…. off to play ball!

Friends, relatives, and neighbours are invited to attend a public visitation on Friday, January 20th, 2023, between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in the Maurice J.
