Obituary for Wilfred William Denys

DENYS, Wilfred W. (March 21, 1928- October 30, 2021)

With deep sadness the Denys Family announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Wilfred William Denys, on October 30th, 2021, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, in his 94th year. Born in Tillsonburg on March 21st, 1928, a lifelong Tillsonburg resident who enjoyed being part of the tobacco farming community. Dearly missed by his loving wife and best friend Yvonne (Nee Schelstraete) of 70 wonderful years. Proud and dedicated father to his daughters Karen (Brian Gracie) and Gail (Dave Sandham). Cherished grandfather to granddaughters Tanya (André Brisebois) and Sara (Brad Clark). Dearest brother of late Jennie Quenneville 2012 (Paul) and Violet (Gaby) DeDobbelaere. Survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Odiel (1978) and Suzanne (Vandewyngaerde 1987) and a much-loved grandson Scott Sandham (2006). Former member of the former Delhi Belgian Club. Lifelong faithful member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church and long-standing member of St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus Council #3212, where in retirement he was active in many hours of ticket sales for various Knights of Columbus events. Wilfred was a delightful, hard-working, generous family man with a kind soul who will always be remembered and always loved.

In keeping with Wilfred’s expressed wishes, a Private Traditional Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 4th, in St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 51 Venison St. W., Tillsonburg by Rev. Fr. Ben Huyge. Cremation follows with later private burial in the Tillsonburg Cemetery. All who knew Wilfred are welcome to attend public visitation, held on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus Prayer Service follows at 4:30 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc. Chapel, 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg. Please note masks must be worn and social distancing maintained. All guest must pre-register for an available time slot via Wilfred’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com.
