Obituary for William Arnold "Bill" Marshall

Passed away, peacefully, after a courageous struggle with illness, at Delhi Long Term Care, with his loving wife Elsie and family members by his side, William (Bill) Arnold Marshall formerly lifelong resident of Cornell Road Springford, at the age of 81. Bill worked at Grow Gord, Tillsonburg for ten years. Bill was a dedicated employee at Ford Talbotville Assembly Plant, St. Thomas for over thirty years retiring in 1998. Above all Bill treasured his family and his many friends. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who thoroughly enjoyed fishing, playing cards, snowmobiling, woodcarving and snow removal from family and friends laneways. In his younger days Bill enjoyed baseball in Springford. Survived by his loving and much-loved wife and best friend of 62 years Elsie Irene (Breit) Marshall. Loved father and father-in-law of: Dwayne Marshall (Lorna Lines) and his two daughters: Shaylyn and Shantel; Janet (Paul Hutchinson) and her two sons: Michael (Amanda) and Johnathan; Randy Marshall (Carrie) and their two sons: RJ (Kayla) and Jason; Tammy (Mark Young) and their daughter Jayme (Bill) and son Justin. Bill will also be missed by his five grandchildren, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Bill is survived by four brothers: Carl (late Mildred), Floyd (Brenda), Harold (Laurie) and Erwin (late Shirley), three sisters Marilyn (late Geoffery), Linda, Ruth Ann (Wayne) and three sisters-in-law: Alice (late Don), Doreen (late James), and Barb (late Robert). Predeceased by his parents Gould Arnold Marshall and Violet Marie (Lonsbary) Marshall.

In keeping with Bill’s expressed wishes cremation has taken place. Due to COVID-19 safety restrictions, a private (invitation only) Graveside Service will take place on Sunday, July 26th in the Springford Cemetery, by Rev. Lola Mather-Dyer, of Springford Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the “Make-A-Wish Foundation” or to the “Sunshine Foundation” can be made through the verhoevefuneralhomes.com website or by cheque through the MAURICE J.
